Do you think it is a national disgrace that in England and Wales, two women a week are killed by their partner or ex-partner? Or that one woman in every four will experience domestic violence at some point during her life?
Do you want to work for an organisation that provides a voice for abused women, and plays a vital role in ensuring that life-saving services are in place to support them? If so, then the role of Refuge Worker within our Hounslow service may be perfect for you.
Refuge is the country’s largest provider of specialist services for victims of all forms of gender-based violence. Every day we support over 6,000 women and children in our national network of services. We advise Government and lobby to keep violence against women and girls high on the public agenda. We run award-winning prevention and public education campaigns, managing a busy press office and website, and we are an accredited training provider.
Refuge is committed to a world where domestic and other gender violence is not tolerated and where women and children can live in safety. We aim to empower women and children to rebuild their lives, free from violence and fear.
As refuge worker, you will be responsible for providing high quality practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic violence and their children living in our refuges.
You will be required to work effectively with women with varying needs. It is therefore desirable that you have experience of working with people who have complex needs and specifically those with mental ill-health and/or those who have misused substances.
This is a fixed-term contract until March 2020.
